Introducing… The Lucid Dream
It takes a special kind of band to embrace a bygone era of super psychedelia and make it sound fresh, The Lucid Dream not only accomplish that, but take you straight on through to the other side.
Hailing from the part of the country that we call Carlisle, raised upon a blissed out magic carpet ride, they were found clutching their Cramps and Velvet Underground records. The Lucid Dream not only lose themselves in a wall of noise, but find their way back again, crawling so effortlessly across that ‘far out’ wave of melody. It’s drone rock with an air of beauty, all the while surrendering itself to the sometime cruel world we call pop music.
Four guys who go by the names of Mark, Mike, Luke and Wayne all got together back in January 2008, with their love of all things buzzing and bright: they pooled together and created such image laden music, it would burst the clouds into oblivion. With comparisons to Spacemen 3, Ride, My Bloody Valentine and most recently The Horrors, The Lucid Dream sit uncomfortably amongst the indie elite and rip open the many colours that surround their spaced out musical psyches. It’s glorious and has as an air of retro chic to it, that one thing is for sure, The Lucid Dream will take you on a journey and will crystallise everything that is wonderful about them, just for you.
With the band already having a self-released EP out entitled ‘Erbistock Mill’, critically acclaimed by the likes of Steve Lamacq and The Fly magazine, they are back with a single release on 31st October this year via 360 Degree Music. This band are only just making their way through and I for one don’t want to miss the beautiful world they live in.
