Introducing…. Underdogs
A big sound with big hearts is what you experience with Preston’s ‘Underdogs’. A call to arms and rousing anthems are on the agenda for this stadium band in the making - it’s U2 without the knobhead and taking influence from the Futureheads generation.
What Underdogs do so well, is create a gang mentality in their songs. Take a track like ‘The Blue Light’, which is obviously quite a personal track, but they open it up to everyone. It draws you in and makes you understand exactly what’s going on without confusion and over complicating the issues. An example of that ‘people’s anthem’ vibe can be found on their single ‘Angel on Your Shoulder’, with its building tempo and crowd chanting chorus. It is simply a case of closing your eyes and you’ll already be able to see this being sung on the terraces of a football ground as they take to the stage of Wembley Stadium. A slight exaggeration I hear you say, but it’s a belief system they have created all by themselves – they are a band you can trust and have faith in. There are not enough bands in this day and age that can ignite that sort of passion, but give Underdogs just one chance and they will make sure you’ll start wearing your heart on your sleeve.
